Lug Butterfly Valve
The lug butterfly valve is a special type of butterfly valve that is fixed to the pipeline through the lug connection. Usually, stud bolts are used to connect the valve between the flanges of two pipelines. It is widely applied in industrial automatic control systems such as the petroleum, chemical, offshore engineering, and drilling platform industries, and is used for remote centralized control or local control.
The driving methods of the lug butterfly valve can be manual, worm gear, pneumatic, and electric. The connection methods can be flange and wafer. The structural forms can be single-eccentric, center-line type, double-eccentric, and triple-eccentric. The sealing structures can be soft sealing and hard sealing. The pressure range is PN0.1-10Mpa, the nominal diameter ranges from DN40 to 2000mm, and the materials can be cast steel and stainless steel.
Due to the wide application range of the valve, the same valve has different configurations in different occasions and working conditions.
Main features of the lug butterfly valve.
- The lug butterfly valve has triple offset structure and double offset high performance structure, can be produced according to requirements. The unique self-adjusting sealing seat is adopted in the double eccentric structure. When the butterfly disc is closed and ready to open, the PTFE sealing ring will automatically reset and restore the original elastic position. When closing, the PTFE sealing ring will be compressed by the butterfly disc closing force to ensure the sealing;
- 2. The lug butterfly valve does not need to add o-ring or metal parts to maintain the seal, long service life, low maintenance costs;
- 3. The lip type sealing structure can compensate for changes in temperature and pressure;
- 4. In sealing test, there is no bubbles and leakage in both directions, ensuring that users can install valves on the pipeline according to requirements, no direction requirements.

The applicable fields of the lug butterfly valve.
The lug butterfly valve is widely used in fields such as petroleum, chemical engineering, smelting, papermaking, and environmental protection due to its excellent performance characteristics. In these fields, the lug butterfly valve plays important roles such as connecting, cutting off, regulating the pressure of the medium, and controlling the flow rate.

What is a lug type butterfly valve?
A lug type butterfly valve is a specific kind of butterfly valve. It features lugs or projections on its body, which are used for its installation. These lugs allow the valve to be securely fastened between two pipeline flanges with the help of bolts.
This type of valve is highly versatile. Its disc is installed across the pipeline’s diameter and rotates around an axis within the cylindrical valve body. When the disc rotates through an angle of 0° to 90°, it can open or close the valve to control the flow of media.
Lug type butterfly valves have various driving methods, including manual, worm gear, pneumatic, and electric. They can be applied in many industries like petroleum, chemical, and environmental protection. Their functions cover connecting or cutting off the pipeline, as well as regulating the pressure and flow rate of the media. With different structural forms, sealing types, and material options, they can meet diverse working conditions and requirements.
