Wafer Butterfly Valve

The wafer butterfly valve is a common type of valve used in industrial pipelines, mainly for controlling the fluid medium in the pipeline. It is characterized by a compact structure and is particularly suitable for places with narrow spaces or short pipeline intervals. The wafer butterfly valve connects the valve between the flanges of two pipelines through stud bolts, making the installation and maintenance relatively convenient.
The wafer butterfly valve can be quickly opened and closed by simply rotating it 90°, and the operation is simple. At the same time, this valve has good fluid control characteristics. When the butterfly valve is in the fully open position, the thickness of the butterfly disc is the resistance that the medium encounters when flowing through the valve body. Therefore, the pressure drop generated when passing through this valve is very small, so it has good flow control characteristics. There are two types of sealing forms for butterfly valves: elastic soft sealing and metal sealing. For elastic soft sealing valves, the sealing ring can be embedded in the valve body or attached to the periphery of the butterfly disc.
Main features of wafer type butterfly valve.
- simple and compact in structure, light in weight, easy to assemble and repair;
- Small operation torque, turn 90° portable rapid opening and closing;
- Small flow resistance, the energy saving effect is good;
- Reliable sealing, leakage is zero, long service life.

Applications of wafer butterfly valves
- In the gas pipelines of the sulfuric acid industry: Used for regulating and cutting off the gas volume at the inlet and outlet of the blast fans in front of the furnace, the inlet and outlet of the relay fans, the series connection and connection valves of the electrostatic precipitators, the inlet and outlet of the main SO₂ blowers, the adjustment of the converters, the inlet and outlet of the preheaters, etc.
- In the sulfur combustion, conversion, drying and absorption sections of the sulfur-based sulfuric acid production system, it is the preferred brand of valves for sulfur-based sulfuric acid production units. It is widely recognized by users as a butterfly valve with good sealing performance, smooth operation, corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and it is convenient, flexible, safe and reliable to operate. Thus, it has been widely promoted and used.
It is also widely used as a regulating and throttling device in the pipelines of media such as SO₂, steam, air, coal gas, ammonia gas, CO₂ gas, oil products, water, brine, lye, seawater, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, etc. in industries such as chemical engineering, petrochemicals, smelting, pharmaceuticals, and food.

What is a wafer type butterfly valve installed?
A wafer type butterfly valve is installed between two flanges of the pipeline. It is connected by stud bolts. First, the valve is placed between the flanges, and then the bolts are inserted through the bolt holes of the flanges and the valve, and tightened evenly to fix the valve in place. This installation method is simple and convenient, and is suitable for pipelines where space is limited.
