Pneumatic Trunnion Ball Valve

pneumatic trunnion ball Valve

The pneumatic trunnion ball Valve is a new generation of high-performance ball valve, suitable for long-distance pipelines and general industrial pipelines. Special considerations have been made in its design regarding strength, safety, and resistance to harsh environments. It is suitable for various corrosive and non-corrosive media.

Compared with the floating ball valve, during operation, the force generated by the fluid pressure in front of the valve on the ball is all transmitted to the bearing, and it will not cause the ball to move towards the valve seat. Therefore, the deformation of the valve seat is small, the sealing performance is stable, and the service life is long. It is suitable for high-pressure and large-diameter applications.

Top Wells, china pneumatic trunnion ball valve supplier, has been committed to providing high-quality and durable trunnion mounted ball valves.

Main features of the pneumatic trunnion ball Valve.

  1. Body:
Full-bore design of valve body ensure biggest flow capacity and low flow resistance against media.
  2. Core:
The trunnion mounting ball design prevents seat damage and reduces seat wear dramatically comparing with floating ball valve.
The ball is precisely machined to mirror finish. And this contributes to bubble-tight shutoff and less operating torque.
  3. Seat:
With seats on both sides, the trunnion ball valve can handle flow in both directions with 0 leakage. Seat is spring preloaded, which ensures self sealing adjustment when flow pressure changes to achieve 0 leakage.
  4. Stem:
With upper and bottom bearings for positioning, contributes to high mechanical stability, small required initiation torque. The self-lubricate bearing prevent valve from stuck.

how to select 1 ball valve

Which is better trunnion ball valve or floating ball valve?

The choice between a trunnion ball valve and a floating ball valve depends on specific application requirements.

For high-pressure and large-diameter applications, the trunnion ball valve is often better. It has a fixed-ball design, which can better withstand high-pressure forces and distribute the load, resulting in less wear on the valve seat and a more stable sealing performance. It is suitable for applications such as long-distance pipelines and high-pressure industrial processes.

On the other hand, the floating ball valve is more suitable for low-pressure and small-to-medium diameter applications. It has a simple structure and good sealing performance under low-pressure conditions. It is often used in some general purpose fluid control systems where the pressure is not extremely high.

In summary, neither valve is absolutely better. The selection should be based on factors such as working pressure, diameter, medium characteristics, and specific application scenarios.

What are the main characteristics of the pneumatic trunnion mounted ball valve?

1. Stable sealing performance.
The ball of the trunnion mounted ball valve is fixed in the valve body and does not move with the medium pressure. The force generated by the fluid pressure in front of the valve on the ball is fully transmitted to the bearing, preventing the ball from moving toward the valve seat. Thus, the valve seat does not bear excessive pressure. This design minimizes valve seat deformation and ensures stable sealing performance, making it particularly suitable for high-pressure and large-diameter applications.
2. Low torque and long service life.
Since the ball remains stationary, operational torque is reduced, making it suitable for high-pressure and large-diameter valves. Additionally, the sealing ring of the fixed ball valve typically uses PTFE material embedded in a stainless steel valve seat. A spring at the tail of the metal valve seat ensures sufficient preload on the sealing ring, further enhancing sealing performance and service life.
3. Bi-directional sealing.
Pneumatic trunnion mounted ball valves are usually designed with double valve seats, enabling sealing in both directions. Therefore, there are no flow direction restrictions during installation, allowing bidirectional flow.
4. Automatic pressure relief function.
The pneumatic trunnion mounted ball valve is equipped with an automatic pressure relief structure. When the liquid medium stagnant in the valve cavity vaporizes due to temperature rise, causing abnormal pressure increase in the cavity, the medium pressure will push the valve seat to release pressure automatically, ensuring valve safety.
5. Fire-proof and anti-static structure.
The pneumatic trunnion mounted ball valve sets conductive springs between the valve stem and the valve body, as well as between the valve stem and the ball, to prevent static sparks from igniting flammable media. Furthermore, the dual protection of the fire-resistant structure ensures that when the sealing ring is damaged in a fire, the valve can still form a metal-to-metal hard sealing structure.
6. Multiple control modes.
The pneumatic trunnion mounted ball valve can adopt manual, automatic, or remote control modes according to actual needs, offering flexibility and convenience for operation and management.
