Flanged Cryogenic Butterfly Valve

A cryogenic butterfly valve is a butterfly valve specifically designed for low-temperature environments. It controls the on-off of fluids by rotating the valve plate (butterfly plate) and is suitable for cryogenic media at temperatures ranging from -40℃ to -253℃.
It is usually made of stainless steel (such as 304, 316L) or cryogenic alloy materials to ensure structural strength and sealing performance at extremely low temperatures. Factors like low-temperature shrinkage and thermal stress are taken into account during the design. Some high-end products are equipped with heat-insulating structures to enhance cold resistance.

Main features of flanged cryogenic butterfly valve.
- Triple-offset disc rotation: provides bubble tightsealing without rubbing or galling.
- Low fugitive emission:in accordance with ISO15848.
- No cavity:no cavity to prevent build-up ofsoilds.
- Inherent fire safe function:stainless steel constructionand metallic seal(item 5) provide inherent fire safefunction.
- Reinforced stainless steel shaft bearings:for highcycles and smooth operation at very low temperature.
- High realiability:Safety integrity level requirementsaccording to IEC 61508.
The applicationos of flanged cryogenic butterfly valve.
Cryogenic butterfly valves are mainly used in low-temperature process flows such as natural gas liquefaction, petrochemical industry, food freezing, and pharmaceutical refrigeration, as well as in industrial fields including liquefied natural gas equipment, air separation plants, and liquid oxygen tank trucks. It can effectively prevent medium leakage and adapt to drastic temperature fluctuations.

What is the estimated price of a cryogenic butterfly valve?
The estimated price of a cryogenic butterfly valve varies significantly based on factors such as size (nominal diameter), pressure rating, material (e.g., 304L stainless steel, 316L stainless steel, or nickel alloys), actuation type (manual, electric, pneumatic), brand, and specific cryogenic performance requirements (e.g., suitability for extremely low temperatures like -196°C for liquid nitrogen applications).
Generally, the price range is as follows:
Small-sized (e.g., DN50 or below) manual cryogenic butterfly valves typically start at around usd 100 to usd 300.
Medium-sized (DN50 to DN200) models, especially those with basic actuation or made of standard stainless steel, may range from usd 300 to usd 1,500.
Large-sized (DN200 and above) valves, or those designed for ultra-low temperatures, high-pressure environments, or with advanced features (e.g., precision sealing, corrosion resistance), can cost usd 1,500 to usd 5,000 or more.
High-end, specialized cryogenic butterfly valves from premium brands or those customized for industrial applications (e.g., LNG, aerospace) may exceed usd 5,000, with some reaching usd 10,000 or higher depending on specifications.
