API Spec 6A M Type Expansion Gate Valve
The expansion gate valve is a type of valve used in high-pressure environments, particularly suitable for applications such as oilfield wellheads, Christmas trees, gas production trees, and manifold systems. Its working pressure ranges widely from 2000 psi to 10,000 psi. The valve’s gate adopts an expandable structure, enabling manual forced sealing to ensure excellent performance under high pressure.The connections types include threaded connection, clamp connection and flange connection. The basic parameters of the nominal diameter is 2-1/16″.
The designs of the gate are as follows: The gate adopts two expansion forms. One is single-cone surface expansion, that is, the cone surface expands in the closed position; the other is double-cone surface expansion, that is, the gate can expand during the entire working process.

- Trims available for all types of oilfield service,
- Field replaceable parts Continuous full bore /thru conduit flow at sealing surfaces minimizes pressure drop and eliminates turbulence.
- Valve body cavity is filled with grease to allow easier operation, corrosion resistance and longer life. Two safety-capped grease fittings are provided on the body so that grease may be added at any time.
- The TFE ring in the seat assures an initial seal between seats and gate in addition to the metal-to metal seal generated by the full expansion of the gate.
- External grease fitting allows easy lubrication of stem bearings .
- Valve does not rely on line pressure for sealing
