Five Essential Valves for Sewage Lift Pumps
In sewage lift pumping stations, the selection of valves is of vital importance.
The following are five commonly used types of valves, which play a crucial role in the sewage treatment process:

- 1️⃣ Gate Valve: It is suitable for circulating media such as clean water, sewage, scum, oil, or gas. When fully opened, the passage is unobstructed, and the fluid passes through with little resistance. It is suitable for sewage pipelines containing a large amount of impurities. Manual, electric, or hydraulic devices can be selected, which is convenient for maintenance.
- 2️⃣ Butterfly Valve: It is widely used in wastewater treatment. It has various materials, including anti-corrosion coated steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy. It has a manual or electric lifting mechanism, with a small size and good sealing performance.
- 3️⃣ Ball Valve: The valve core is spherical, with a through hole in the middle. It opens and closes by rotating the valve core. When fully opened, the axial direction of the through hole is consistent with the flow direction of the medium, and when closed, the through hole is perpendicular to the flow direction of the medium. It has good sealing performance and is suitable for a variety of media.
- 4️⃣ Check Valve: Also known as a non-return valve, it prevents the backflow of the medium by opening and closing the flap door, protecting the normal operation of the water pump.
- 5️⃣ Gas Filter Valve: It is used to filter and eliminate the gas generated by the discharge of the sewage lift station, and can be placed horizontally or vertically. The filter element is composed of multiple layers of fabric impregnated with activated carbon. You can judge whether it is necessary to replace the activated carbon filter element according to the smell.
